You might have seen that for the last few months, some of the mom bloggers have been doing a campaign with @johnsonsbaby_sa called #choosegentle. There has been incredible content, images and sentiments, but no one has spoken about the gentle dad (I’m not knocking anyone – I’m just saying). For my final post of the campaign, I’m dedicating it to the gentle dad who became even more gentle when he became a father. He’s the “good cop”, the storyteller, the dresser, the feeder, the educator, the hair brusher, the guide. The absolute hero.
He is always in my corner. On the low days where I feel I haven’t done enough as a mom, or wasn’t present, or didn’t do right by my kids, he’ll always help me see my value, and reassure me, and help me put my figurative big-girl panties on. He helps me see the bigger picture, and teaches me that one “fall” or mistake doesn’t mean that I’ve blown it as a mom.
He teaches me every day how to be a little bit more patient, loving, tolerant and gentle – especially with myself.
Thanks @johnsonsbaby_sa for not only your gentle and new and improved products, but for allowing us to look harder at ourselves, consider better ways, and be more appreciative of the little – and big – things.
