Congratulations! Today marks 3 MONTHS POST-OP!
Here is a late night picture that @webb.derek took on my first night in TOSH after an 8 hour span of prep, and surgery (10-6). He stayed in my room with me both nights and days. In the hours earlier, I got out of bed and walked to the hallway with the help of a nurse, walker, and a plastic belt around my waist (the nurse uses it in case I faint...). I’m puffy because my muscles above my pelvis had to work their hardest to compensate for the surgery, and I had a breathing tube which gave me a soar throat.
Grateful for the staff: they showed me how to use the pull bar to shift in bed, kept up on my med chart, and brought me delish food—which came 3 times a day from the Intermountain Hospital on State Street...if you look closely, I favored cranberry juice and strawberry jello since I was on a catheter for 2 days. I also loved my oxygen...the best breath of clean air ever!
I’ve made great progress since June 20th, and it’s official as of yesterday morning in PT: I’m able to walk everywhere with no aids, walk all distances, yet take time to sit for 10-15 minutes as needed. Yay!
